Thingaloor is the sthalam for Chandran.Thingal in Tamil signifies Chandran and therefore the name Thingaloor.Chandran is the Lord of Kadaga Rasi and he faces the South-East region. The Adi Devatha is water; prathyathi Devatha is Gowri; his hue is white and his vahana is white horse. The grain linked with him is paddy, rice; the flower, white arali; fabric, white cloth; gem, pearl; rice, curdrice.
Chandra is a lunar deity and is also referred as Soma. The Moon reflects the mind, feminine its very nature, beauty and happiness. Chandra has simply a face and two hands but no body. He is portrayed clutching white lotus flowers in his two hands. He is supposed to ride his chariot across the sky every night, driven by 10 white horses or an antelope. He is also named ‘Nishadipati’ and ‘Kshuparaka’. Lord Chandra is also one of the Gods of Birth. Chandra is the god of Karka rashi or cancer zodiac sign.
